 Tony H. Childress, P.E., S.E., is a visionary leader who has redefined the role of engineering in both commercial and residential construction. He is the founder and owner of The Childress Companies, which includes Childress Engineering Services, Inc. (established in 1994, with offices in Dallas, and Austin, Texas), Group Structural Engineering, Inc. in Dallas, Texas, Attention to Detail in Rockwall, Texas, Jax Kneppers, Inc. in San Francisco, and SCWright in San Diego, California. Driven by a passion for solving complex structural challenges, Mr. Childress is committed to building futures through engineering, architecture and consulting that connect people, businesses, and communities to their highest potential. His work emphasizes creativity, cost-effectiveness, and technical excellence in both design and forensic problem-solving. A licensed structural engineer in 36 states, he remains an active voice in the profession. Mr. Childress serves on the Executive Committee, Technical Advisory Board, and Board of Directors of the Post-Tensioning Institute (PTI), and is a former Chair and Vice Chair of the DC-10 Slab-on-Ground Committee. Beyond engineering, Mr. Childress is deeply committed to legacy and stewardship.
