David L. Copenhaver, AIA, is a Managing Partner in the Dallas office of BSB Design. Since joining BSB Design in 1989, Dave has been involved in a multitude of project types, including single-family, multifamily, mixed-use, 55+, and build-to-rent communities. As a lead designer in the firm, Dave is actively engaged in defining BSB Design’s national design vision. His leadership focus began in Texas and the Southeast, and today he helps lead the firm’s business development efforts nationwide. Dave has managed and designed award-winning projects throughout the United States and has held key positions on a number of community vision committees. His knowledge of the industry and design trends throughout the country inspires his drive to continue pushing BSB Design toward greater creativity and innovation in the service of the best outcomes for clients.

Dave is a frequent expert speaker at industry events and conferences, including three presentations at the Sunbelt Builders Conference in Dallas and six sessions at the International Builders Show over a 10-year span. He also contributes thought leadership and expert content to trade publications and industry associations. Recently, Dave has served as an expert panelist discussing design in the built-for-rent market, drawing on his experience leading teams throughout the entire life cycle of a build-to-rent project, from the initial community planning phase through product development. His working knowledge of the investors, developers, operators, and end consumers in the built-for-rent space has become an invaluable resource for the industry and his developer clients.
